New red-band trailer for Spring Breakers: watch now
Feb 22nd 2013, 09:05

Spring Breakers has released a new red-band trailer online, and it's not much of an exaggeration to say it's completely batshit crazy.

Soundtracked by thumping beats and James Franco's drawling voiceover, the new trailer is an assault on the senses, all strobe lighting, blazing gun-muzzles and gratuitous bikini shots.

It's as if all those flesh-filled promo posters had been a little tame, and the marketing team have been urged to crank things up a gear. Unsurprisingly, it's rather a lot of fun.

Take a look, below:

The film follows a quartet of co-eds on Spring Break, who find themselves involved in more than the usual combo of heavy drinking and carefree sex when they get themselves entangled with Franco's unhinged drug-dealer.

Directed by Harmony Korine and co-starring Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson, Spring Breakers opens in the UK on 5 April 2013.

Universal planning more Bourne movies
Feb 22nd 2013, 12:01

The Bourne Legacy might only have been a qualified success at the box office, but according to Universal's chairman Adam Fogelson, further instalments of the franchise are a certainty.

"The point of [The Bourne Legacy] was to create a universe, a world and characters that give us a lot of freedom and flexibility in how we go forward," explained Fogelson. "Yeah, the movie didn't perform the way the last one did. It also didn't cost what the last one did. It performed more along the lines of how the first one did.

"I absolutely see us doing more Bourne, 100% yes," continued Fogelson. However, while he stressed that the studio would love to welcome back Matt Damon, he also made the point that the direction of the series could go in a number of ways.

"Matt has talked about the possibility of coming back," continued Fogelson, "and we totally respect that and are excited if and when he wants to have conversations. But I think the last movie gave us a big bunch of options to pursue a next chapter."

Which sounds to us as though Jeremy Renner's character Aaron Cross will be the most likely focal point of the next instalment. Looks like fans might have to wait a little longer to see Damon snapping another windpipe…

Megan Fox to star in TMNT reboot
Feb 22nd 2013, 08:39

It looks as if Michael Bay and Megan Fox have put their well-publicised differences firmly in the past with the announcement that the star has been cast in his forthcoming reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Bay and Fox famously fell out during the making of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, but the director announced their reunion via his blog, stating, "TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family".

According to Heat Vision, Fox will play intrepid TV reporter April O'Neil, who soon becomes a close ally of the turtles when she stumbles upon their sewer-based lair.

The film is currently casting unknowns for its titular heroes who will be animated using motion-capture techniques. No turtle-suits this time around, it seems.

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the film was recently pushed back to 2014, although with casting beginning to take shape, hopefully there will be no further delays. Ninja Turtles will open in the UK on 16 May 2014.

Bryan Singer talks Peter Dinklage's X-Men character
Feb 22nd 2013, 08:50

Bryan Singer recently confirmed Peter Dinklage as the villain of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and has shared a little about what we can expect from the chief antagonist.

The suggestion had been that Dinklage might be playing the CGI character Singer had previously hinted at, although the director has shot that rumour down by confirming that Dinklage will appear as himself.

"He's not going to be a CGI character," confirms Singer. "He'll be himself. Not that he'll be playing Peter Dinklage, he'll be playing this character. It's not a shy character. He's just such a phenomenal actor.

"I'm a huge fan of Peter's and of Game Of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting].  It's so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game Of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he's this guy from New Jersey."

Start making your guesses as to who Dinklage could be playing in the comments below. Co-starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 18 July 2014.

Dreamworks have an increasingly amazing track record when it comes to epic, family CGI adventure flicks.

And our exclusive clip from upcoming prehistoric romp The Croods looks like they may have another hit.

The impressive voice cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone and Nicolas Cage as a dysfunctional caveman/woman/person family, who are forced out of the confined reality of their cave into the real world when their home is destroyed. Cue prehistoric hijinks.

Watch an exclusive clip below, which shows slapstick was alive and well 5,000 years ago.

If it's one thing Jason Statham's good at, it's kicking asses and saving the girl.

Based on the Parker series of novels by Donald E. Westlake, the movie follows Statham as the titular professional thief, who's double-crossed by his crew. His mission for vengeance leads to enlisting the help of insider Leslie (Jennifer Lopez). Cue explosions, gunshots and roundhouse kicks.
