Dean Devlin on Independence Day 2
Sep 8th 2012, 10:41

Independence Day blew cinema audiences away in 1996, with its mixture of wow-inducing spectacle and Will Smith star-power.

We've got very fond memories of the film, and, as it turns out, so does Independence Day's producer Dean Devlin, who spoke to us exclusively as part of our October issue's sci-fi spectacular, on-sale at all good newsagents near you now.

"Roland and I sat down and watched the original. It's a different experience on television!" Devlin told us.

"The thing that really hit me about the movie is how much love there is in it: between the characters; that the filmmakers had making it; that the cast had for each other. As we're approaching a sequel we're focusing on that aspect of it. Because I think that was really the key as to why it worked for everyone. It was lovable."
