Rahel Senn was only 17 when she realised music was her sole passion. “Music was not a conscious decision, it just happened to me. Under the tutorship of Konstantin Lifschitz, I built an intense relationship with the piano and discovered that I could express my thoughts clearly,” says the young pianist. Rahel will be performing in India for the first time in Bangalore this weekend.

The beautiful pianist, who wrote and produced her first musical at the age of 17, is one of Switzerland’s youngest musicians. Ask her what inspires her while composing music, and she quips, “My heart is my biggest inspiration. There have been many situations in my life where I have just not been able to express myself in any of the seven languages I know, yet it is so easy to articulate my thoughts through music.”

Rahel studied classical piano at the Conservatory of Lucerne in Switzerland. Born to a Singaporean mother and a Swiss father, she took to the piano as it helped her to express her thoughts much more coherently. She says, “The purity and innocence of music is what drives me as a musician. And that is what I continuously want to bring out through my compositions as well. I love to be associated with music as it helps me express my sentiments better.”

Catch Rahel Senn perform on Saturday, September 8, at the Moevenpick Hotel & Spa, Bangalore.
