First teaser for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Sep 11th 2012, 08:06 Lincoln, Steven Spielberg's sweeping biopic of the venerated American president, has released a first official teaser giving us our first glimpse of Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role. The teaser shows a few snippets of Civil War combat, followed by a look in profile at the man himself, all while a narration of the Gettysburg Address plays out hauntingly. Whether or not that is Day-Lewis doing the narrating remains to be seen (indeed, it doesn't sound much like him), but for now we can at least revel in Spielberg's eye for mud-splattered period detail. Take a look at the new teaser below… The new film will focus on Lincoln's last few months in office, as the United States finds itself divided, and the president seeks to end the war between the North and the South, wile bringing the abolition of slavery into the bargain. Day-Lewis will be part of an all-star cast that includes the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, David Strathairn, Jackie Earle Haley and many more. Lincoln will open in the UK on 25 January 2013.
