First TV spot for Ben Affleck's Argo
Sep 5th 2012, 09:16

Argo, Ben Affleck’s political thriller cum Hollywood satire has released a first TV spot, in which the bearded leading man establishes his plan to rescue a group of hostages from the chaos in Iran. Affleck plays a CIA specialist in exfiltration operations, charged with rescuing six American nationals from the midst of an Iranian revolution. “I’ve never left anyone behind,” claims Affleck, before proposing a hare-brained scheme to cross enemy lines. The plan is to pose as a movie crew shooting a feature on location in Iran. Genius, you might think. All that remains now is for a fake project to be devised, with Affleck and chums settling on a sci-fi adventure named Argo. Take a look at the new spot, below... In contrast with the full trailer that was doing the rounds earlier in the year, this new spot seems to be focusing upon the thriller element of the film, packed as it is with race-against-time shouting and ground level mayhem in Iran. We still think the comedy will be the film’s strong point, but this other aspect also looks suitably well handled. Directed by Affleck and co-starring the excellent trio of Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Alan Arkin, Argo opens in the UK on 9 November 2012.
