Quentin Tarantino talks Django Unchained soundtrack
Dec 3rd 2012, 12:26

Quentin Tarantino’s films are famed for their soundtracks, in which QT takes the chance to show off his extensive record collection, and generally write a love letter to whichever genre fits his subject matter. However, he won’t crowbar songs in if they don’t serve his overall purpose, as it the case with a song specially written for Django Unchained by Frank Ocean, which apparently hasn’t made the final cut. “Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn't a scene for it," says Tarantino. "I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that's not why he wrote it and not his intention.” “So I didn't want to cheapen his effort. But, the song is fantastic, and when Frank decides to unleash it on the public, they'll realize it then." The film has also been officially confirmed as clocking in at a lengthy two hours and 45 minutes, making it one of Tarantino’s longer films. Not that we’ll be complaining if the finished article is exciting as the footage we’ve seen so far… Django Unchained opens in the UK on 18 January 2013.
