Celeb Birthday Spl Konkona Sen Sharma Dec 3rd 2012, 17:58 88 Image courtesy: BCCL I am not an artsy movie aficionado, nor do I claim that I watch only intelligent films. In fact, there have been times I have stayed away from an art house movie because I wasn’t in the frame of mind for it. But yet, I like this dusky actor for everything she represents, other than being the film personality she is. First, I like the uniqueness of her name and how she has kept both her parents names as her last name. She is obviously not conventionally beautiful but, she has perfectly held her own in Bollywood. I like her for the fact that her name hasn’t been dragged into any kind of cat fights, cold wars, wars of words, wars for the numbers, or any other controversy for that matter. No necessary/unnecessary link-ups, break-ups or publicity stunts either. I like her for the quality actor she is. She doesn’t seem to be bothered about the length of the role. Incidentally, the first Konkona movie I saw was her first English movie Mr & Mrs Iyer. I was immediately in awe of her because she was just natural in the movie and consciously or not, I haven’t missed out a single hindi movie with her in it ever since; be it 15 Park Avenue, Wake up Sid, Omkara or even the very filmy Luck by Chance. The versatile actresses’ style may not be glam but she seems very much comfortable in her skin and it’s this and all of the above that puts a smile on my face every time I see her on the big screen.
