J.J. Abrams involved with Half-Life adaptation?
Feb 7th 2013, 07:42

Clearly somebody close to J.J. Abrams has been reading our recent videogames feature, because the director has been strongly linked to a potential adaptation of either Portal or Half-Life.

Abrams was appearing as a keynote speaker at the 2013 DICE summit, and revealed that, "there's an idea we have for a game that we'd like to work with Valve on."

An exciting enough prospects on its own merits, but even more encouragingly, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell then went on to say, "We're super excited about that and we also want to talk about making movies, either a Portal movie or a Half-Life movie."

The two properties are two of the studio's most popular sci-fi games, the former focusing upon the fiendish challenges of a malicious artificial intelligence, while the latter is an all-action blaster set around a research facility that accidentally opens a gateway to another world.

Were Abrams to officially come on board for either project, we'd be dancing our way into geek nirvana. Let's hope there's more to this one than hot-air and back-slapping…
