New on-set images from Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road has released a few new on-set images online, showing just how much fun the props department are having coming up with an array of ultra-violent vehicles and accessories appropriate to a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Alongside some more of the heavily-armoured vehicles that have always populated the franchise, there's also a look at a rather fetching face mask and a nifty pair of gloves, customised with an extremely pointy blade attachment. The film recently released an official plot synopsis, outlining just what we can expect from the latest entry into the canon: "Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived." Meanwhile, former star Mel Gibson has revealed he and director George Miller did discuss the possibility of him reappearing, but goes on to confirm that he feels Tom Hardy is a more than adequate replacement. "Oh yeah, I’ll have a look," he said when asked whether he would check out the film. "It’ll be fun. I think he’s a good actor. He commits completely and he looks great. There’s this scary thing about him which is kind of right for that. Tom needed to sit down and talk more than I did. I’m really happy about that. But I hope they do a great job. I’m a big fan of George’s." Co-starring Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Mad Max: Fury Road will open in the UK in 2013, with a specific release date yet to be announced.
