Skyfall breaks UK box-office record with biggest ever seven-day gross
Nov 2nd 2012, 12:46

Skyfall has not only been an astonishing critical success, but it would seem as though UK cinemagoers are dead keen on it too, as it smashed another box-office record. Already the holder of the ‘biggest Saturday ever’ box-office accolade, Skyfall has now been confirmed as the biggest ever seven-day gross for any film at the UK box office. Yep, it even pipped Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (no mean feat). It would seem as if the combination of great reviews and nostalgia for Bond’s 50th anniversary has created something of an unstoppable force. And it’s hard to picture any of this week’s new releases (as good as Rust And Bone might be), toppling 007 from the top of the chart. Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, “We are very grateful to the Bond fans and all UK cinema audiences for making Skyfall the biggest opening week ever during our 50th anniversary year.” Skyfall is in UK cinemas now (obviously), and opens in the US on 9 November 2012.
