Ralph Fiennes joins Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel

Wes Anderson’s typically eclectic ensemble cast for The Grand Budapest Hotel continues to grow, with Ralph Fiennes the latest A-lister to check in. Fiennes has confirmed that he will play the “perfectly composed” M. Gustave, a concierge at the hotel who also runs a sideline as a psychic. Sounds about right for a hotel imagined by Anderson… Fiennes will join confirmed cast-members Bill Murray and Jude Law on set, but he won’t be working alongside Angela Lansbury. The actress had initially signed on to appear, but scheduling conflicts with her stage work have meant she has had to drop out. At present, next to nothing is known about the film’s plot, save for its titular setting. That said, there’s still plenty of buzz around it, thanks largely to a rumoured cast list including Ed Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Owen Wilson. Described by Anderson as “a European story”, the film will open in the US on 26 December 2014, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
