New TV spot arrives for Oblivion: watch now Jan 21st 2013, 13:49 Oblivion has released a brand new TV spot in which Tom Cruise attempts to save mankind on a post-apocalyptic version of Earth. As the teaser handily explains, "Earth was attacked… we won the war, but they destroyed the planet". Cruise plays a workman attempting to harvest the last remaining nutrients from the doomed planet, but finds his world turned on its head by the uncovering of a terrible truth concerning humanity's fate. It seems that there's a conspiracy afoot, and the nature of the "invasion" might not have been as clear-cut as Cruise's character had been lead to believe. Thankfully, wise old Morgan Freeman is on hand to open his eyes. Take a look, below… While the footage does little to help unravel what seems to be a labyrinthine plot, it does at least look spectacular, withs this seemingly ruined Earth proving eye-catching in the extreme. And then there are those beasties that seem to have the run of the place… Directed by Joseph Kosinski and co-starring Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough and Melissa Leo, Oblivion opens in the UK on 12 April 2013.
