Pixar concept art offers first look at The Good Dinosaur

Pixar is generally celebrated for its good-will, and the studio's 2012 Christmas card contained a few exciting gifts in the form of exclusive artwork for upcoming Pixar projects.

Among that artwork was a first look at the studio’s next non-sequel, non-prequel project, The Good Dinosaur (above).

Alongside a gorgeous sunset-blushed image of a little person (a caveman, perhaps?) riding a dinosaur, Pixar also released a short plot synopsis:

What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?

What if, indeed? Marking the studio’s first foray into prehistoric terrain, expect this to be a dino-flick to rival even Jurassic Park in crossover kiddie-adult appeal.

Other artwork released included that for the Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind (due in June 2015), which promises to “take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind”.

Apparently that world involves tiny little brain-beings, and not billions of firing neurons and synapses. See the artwork below.

Finally, we get a glimpse at 2016 release Untitled Pixar Movie About Dia De Los Muertos, which comes from Toy Story 3 team director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson.

While the artwork for this far-off release gives away nothing about the film's plot, it certainly hints at a fittingly jaunty Mexican flavour.

The Good Dinosaur opens on 30 May 2014.
